Human rights are the norms that take human behavior in a certain boundary.
Basic Human Rights
These are the basic fundamental rights that are common and necessary for every human being regardless of their cast, culture, sex, nationality, language or ethnicity.
Some basic human rights are as follows:
• Freedom of slavery
• Right to live
• Liberation of expression
• Liberation of thinking
• Seeking of education and much more.
Importance of Human Rights
It is the minimum standard for self-worth living. It is the liberty for people to live happily, to work with respect and dignity, to express their thoughts and to have their own social circle. Fulfillment of their basic needs such as clothing, housing and seeking education all comes under fundamental human rights. Poor and rich both have equal rights of freedom, security or availing any opportunity. Human rights prevent middleman against abuse by anyone who have power.
Characteristics of Human Rights
Human rights have certain characteristics:
1. They are universal i.e. they are for every human existing in the universe.
2. They are not forfeitable i.e. it cannot be stolen or snatched from anyone.
3. Human rights are interconnected with each other i.e. they depend on one another in nature.
4. They are indivisible i.e. they be toughened separately.
5. They are non-discriminatory i.e. everyone has to obey and follow the rights without any biasness.
Need to establish Human Rights
In order to stop slavery, racial extermination, discrimination, government subjugation and thralldom at WWII, there is a need to establish peace and harmony in the world. To stop the violation in the world either it was at individual level or at government level, human rights were introduced. United Nation formed the forum named Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). It was the first platform which introduced the human rights at social, economic, civil, and cultural level. So every human would be able to enjoy his life with freedom.
In any nation, the government is the body who is responsible for providing a man with his basic rights. It is not entirely the government’s duty to provide human rights but it also depends on every human to respect the other person. Along with the individual, every industry, company or any working body and even the society is responsible for providing the human rights.
Government plays the major role in maintain peace and love by providing basic rights to each individual. They also contribute toward stopping violation that harms any individual in any means. Human basic and fundamental rights should be written in law.
Human Rights Day
Every year on 10th December human rights day is celebrated. It is also known as HRD. United Nations members observes this day, which is celebrated worldwide. For the first time it was celebrated on 1948, for about 72 years back.
Human Right Violation
Human right violation means hurting any human by degrading him at social, cultural, economic or civil level. When a government is unable to secure the respect, and protection or any other need of a man is basically refers toward the violation of human rights.
Few violation examples are as under:
• Fail to provide adequate shelter for people.
• Wages of labor are not given at time.
• Food and clothing were not provided to people.
• Heath facilities were not provided properly.
• Contaminated water supply.
• Starvation in many areas.
• Less knowledge facilities.
• No jobs.
• No maternity leaves for working women.
• Contaminated food.
• Limited resources for basic needs.
• Cruel, inhuman behavior in society.
• Discrimination among people of one nation.
• No freedom of giving opinions.
Human Rights in Law
Almost 23 articles in Pakistani law are describing human rights in detail. It lies from article 8 to article 28. In these articles they cover every human right with full elaboration.
If we have a look on these articles, they deals with slavery, double punishment, dignity, civil rights, security, in derogation, fair trials, forced labor, freedom of movement, assembly, association, trade and business, speech, profess religion, right for seeking information, protection against taxation, education, religion, property rights, equality, discrimination, language and preservation of culture.
