Feminisim | The Aurat March

Feminism, the talk about the equality of sexes, woman liberation, or we can simply say womanism in all general platform of life (i.e. social, economic and political). It is a notion that both genders have equal rights, convenience and freedom.

Origin of Feminism
In 1848, the emergence of feminism took place from Europe and United States. The agreement in the form of Seneca Falls Convention took place in New York. In this treaty, three hundred men and women revive for the equal rights of women. From decades, the woman voice is suppressed in all means so, in this convention they put a voice against the equality of woman in social, civil platform and specially the right of vote.

Types of Feminism
Radical Feminist
As the word radical indicates the concept of elimination. So, radical feminist give us the concept of the elimination of gender completely. It’s just because that sexism is intensely rooted in our society. It is said to be an extreme form of feminism.
Socialist Feminist
Socialist Feminist thought that women have less power than men in both economic and social perspective. In their opinion the women should get the half of the same task in money than men. This difference is because of capitalist system.
Cultural Feminism
Cultural feminism talks more about women rights than men. They focus more on encouraging women than men.
Liberal Feminism
Liberal feminism talks about the freedom of individual without gender discrimination. Every person has equal rights and respect.
Liberal feminism = Equality = Equal rights and respect
Islamic Feminism
It talks about the equality of rights with the perspective of Islam. It is concerned with social justice and equal rights in the framework of religion.

Review about Feminism
Feminism is more concerned about the fact of women persecution. Feminism talks about the empowerment of women, their active role in society, equality in contrast to men, in sharing ideas and making decisions of their lives.

Feminism in Pakistan
Feminism in Pakistan is the relentless effort toward women freedom in social and political aspects. It took start from the time of General Zia ul Haq. He focused more on Islamisation.
Chaadar and Chaar Dewaari
General Zia ul Haq gave his point of view of chaadar and chaar dewari for women. He called woman, the defender of religion, family and also the protector of country.  Woman Action Forum was formed in 1980s. In spite of good struggle it was not much more famous in Pakistan. Baton was charged on 200 to 250 women in the Zia government to stop this Chaadar Burning March.

Aurat March
Feminism in Pakistan arose in the form of Aurat March in 2019. It was a popular march in which women from different sects, different areas, and different culture took part. In various cities of Pakistan like Lahore, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Mardan  Aurat March was organized. It was structured and planned by Women’s Collective known as hum aurtien.
In slum areas like in small towns and in villages there is a need to develop awareness in people about the rights of women. Women have no freedom of speech, work, and making decision by themselves. They are completely dependent on men. So, we can say that there is a need for women march to provide them their rights and power of decision making.
If we look on the other side of the picture, different bad slogans are just spreading the vulgarity in the society i.e.

• me awara, me badchalan (I am debauched, I am filthy)
• lo beth gaye saee se (look, I am sitting satisfactorily) by making a caricature showing double standard with boys.
Many more vulgar slogans were the part of petition which was the bad sight of Aurat March.
Hence we can everything has both positive and negative aspects. You should think with all perspective while choosing the right path for you that should also be good for the community. Hope you will gain some knowledge by this blog.
