United Nation (UN)
It is an international body which is formed for the following purposes:
• To maintain the peace and security all around the world.
• To build the positive relationship among countries.
• Solve problems (i.e. social, cultural, humanitarian or economical problems) at international level between nations.
• It also provides a platform, where countries all around the world share their ideas and goals.
History
United Nation was formed at the end of the World War I to maintain the peace among all countries of the world and known as League of Nations but unfortunately, it was failed to develop peace among world and prevent WWII. Soon League of Nation broke the trust of nations.
Hereafter, the President Franklin D. Roosevelt used the word United Nation instead of League of Nation and reunite 51 countries at a platform on 26 June 1945.

Members of United Nation
At the time of the formation of United Nation, the member countries were 51 and now 193 countries are their members. United Nation involves all those countries to be the part of their platform which are peace loving.
United Nation has 5 permanent member countries:

• Russian Federation
• France
United Nation has 10 non-permanent members. They are elected by the General Assembly for the time period of two years:
• Belgium
• Estonia
• Indonesia
• Germany
• Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
• Dominican Republic

• Vietnam
• Tunisia

Organ of United Nation
There are six main domains of United Nation these are:
1. The Economic and Social Council
2. The General Assembly
3. The Trusteeship Council
4. The Security Council
5. The Secretariat

Agencies of United Nation
At present 15 agencies are working with United Nation, these are:
1. (IFAD) International Fund for Agricultural Department
It works for the settlement of poverty in the developing countries. It was established in 1977 under the supervision of finance institute. Headquarter is situated in Italy.
2. (FAO) Food and Agricultural Organization
It is the organization that deals with hunger and poverty in both developed and developing countries. It is established in 1945. It is the neutral platform for all nations in order to increase the nutrition productivity. In all agencies of United Nation, FAO is the largest agency.
3. (IMF) International Monetary Fund
It is the organization that promotes economic growth and supports trade at international level. Financial stability is the main aim of this organization. IMF has three main functions:
• Loaning
• Increasing production
• Managing economic development
4. (ILO) International Labour Organization
ILO was developed in 1919. Headquarter of ILO is in Switzerland. It focuses on labour issues. It focuses on social justice and bringing peace to the universe. It acknowledges human and labour rights at international level.
5. (ICAO) International Civil
Aviation Organization
It is established in 1944. Development of international airport is the main aim of ICAO. Its main purpose of establishment is to focus on the certain things of aviation i.e.
• Environmental protection
• Safety and security
• Efficiency and regularity
Headquarter of ICAO is in Canada.
6. (IMO) International Maritime Organization
This organization was established for the safety and protection of marine life. They focus purely on the development of marine life by making them pollution free. It is also subsidized by the technical committee for this purpose. Headquarter of IMO is in London.
7. (UNWTO or WTO) World Tourist Organization
The main purpose of UNWTO is to boost and encourage tourism for the elevation of economic growth. Every year it has new slogan for seeking the attention of people toward tourism. UNWTO defines the tourism as staying at any place outer than their home town for at least a year for any purpose i.e. spending leisure time, for business or for fun. Headquarter of UNWTO is in Spain.
8. (WMO) World Meteorological Organization
WMO deals with climate ad weather i.e. modern meteorology and geophysical sciences. Headquarter of WMO is in Switzerland. It is formed in 1873 but well established in 1950.
9. (WIPO) World Intellectual
Property Organization
It is a specialized agency that focuses on intellectual properties and creativity all along the world. It was established in 1967. Headquarter is in Switzerland.
10. WHO World Health Organization
This organization deals with people heath issues and combating the epidemics by sending medical teams. It focuses on health related issues, diseases and sanitation. It was established in 1948.
11. UNIDO United Nation Industrial
Development Organization
This organization deals with the industrial growth and development. It focuses on prosperity of the country by increasing the economic growth by flourishing the industries. They also focus on climate safeguarding. Headquarter is in Austria.
12. (UPU) Universal Postal Union
They establish the postal policies between different nations of the world. Headquarter of UPU is in Switzerland.
13. (WBG) World Bank Group
It is the main source of financial aid for developing countries all around the world. They offer many resources to the developing countries to stand up their economy. Headquarter is in America.
14. (UNESCO) United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization
They focus on maintaining peace in the society by education and science in order to maintain human rights, justice and peace all over the world. It was established in 1946 and headquarter is in France.
15. (ITU) International
Telecommunication Union
This organization deals with the radio and telecommunication. They interconnect different countries by international phone calls. It is similar to UPU, which is dealing with postal services. Headquarter of ITU is in Switzerland.
